On a morning when clouds hung low and rain threatened, a Dusky-blue Groundstreak, Calycopis isobeon, posed on a petal. The insect either completed a meal and was digesting, or was contemplating a meal for slurping. It didn’t share plans with me.

The Groundstreak perched, surrounded by sunny rays which brightened the clouds’ gloom. The hairstreak balanced for a time, then took flight and winged to a new spot in the garden.
What a pretty little butterfly and sweet photo! π

Thanks, Eliza–I was charmed!

Isn’t it wonderful when one of these lingers for a bit? It’s even better when one chooses such a nice background to highlight its details!

Yes it is! I find butterflies the most congenial critters to work with. Those darned bees, birds, and mammals just move too much and often, too fast!

How inconsiderate of the butterfly not to share plans with you, its hostess and provider of a garden.

I know, right? That being said, I’m happy it’s in my garden!

Sweetness. π¦ I saw a hummingbird the other day doing the same thing. He was simply perching on the feeder for a few moments, looking around and pausing. I wasn’t sure if he was guarding territory or simply taking a break. Lovely photo!

I like to come across these wild things in restful moments. It’s been a while, but a snoozing bee in a flower is just about the cutest thing ever!
