Pollinators are busy this spring season. In my garden it’s been mostly bees-n-beetles as active pollinators, but hummingbirds have arrived and the butterfly population is ticking upwards with each passing week.
This Painted Lady, Vanessa cardui, worked several blooms in the front garden, spending some time at the dainty blue-violet florets of Blue Curls or Caterpillars, Phacelia congesta.

The butterfly crawled around the blooms, proboscis sipping, wary butterfly eyes trained on the gardener.

Splendid, Tina! The best reason for why we garden right there. 🙂

What could be better than one of my favorite butterflys on a favorite flower? Of course, any butterfly enjoying any flower is a treat!

It’s a well-appointed little butterfly, isn’t it? And I just love the blue-curls. They’re almost done in the garden, going to seed.

They never do take their eyes off the photographer and it makes it hard to get close. You took some good photos of them.

This little one was pretty cooperative, certain more than some!

Oh, they are beautiful butterflies, for sure! I haven’t seen many butterflies here yet, but we will be warm in the week ahead so I’m sure many will appear. Special time of year. ❤

I’m a little surprised to see blue curls still flowering in May. Has that usually been the case in your yard?
Ah, I just noticed the answer to my question in a previous reply of yours: “They’re almost done in the garden, going to seed.”

I usually start yanking them out about now, most are gong to seed.

The butterfly/flower combination is beautiful. No need to be wary of the gardener/photographer!
