For those who live in places where regular summer rain showers occur, it may seem silly to grab a camera and take photos of wet plants.

But for Central Texans, crawling through our last days of the dry, hot Texas summer, a pop-up thunderstorm is nothing short of miraculous.  Excitement builds as the dark clouds gather and the wind whooshes through the trees; thunder rolls…and then rain falls. Those first late summer/early autumn showers don’t do much more than wash the dust off, but rain drops on the foliage and blossoms of this Coral Vine, Antigonon leptopus,

…or the straps of this Soft-leaf Yucca, Yucca recurvifolia,

…elicit hope of softer days ahead.

Everyone is gratified and energized with rain.
